The month of July was an exciting and busy time for us at Emerge Business Solutions. We worked on several projects, helping local businesses overcome various IT challenges, enhance their team productivity, and improve customer satisfaction. Here’s a look at some of the key projects we completed this month.

1. Transitioning from 3CX Free Licence to Enhanced Features

Many of our small business clients were using the 3CX Free Licence, which, while a good starting point, has its limitations after the initial 3-year period. We proactively reached out to these clients and planned transitions to more suitable s 3CX licences. This upgrade provided advanced features like call queues, enhancing customer on-hold experiences with tailored messaging and allowing for different ring tones for priority calls. These changes significantly improved customer interactions and operational efficiency.

2. Hardware Refresh Program for Improved Business Operations

Aging hardware can be a significant bottleneck for business operations. For one of our clients, we implemented a hardware refresh program, replacing two old computers as part of their yearly plan. This proactive approach not only kept their systems running smoothly but also allowed for better budget planning, avoiding unexpected expenses. The new hardware came with a next business day warranty, ensuring minimal downtime and uninterrupted productivity.

3. Firewall Replacement for Enhanced Security and Remote Access

A retail store client faced an expiring Sophos XG firewall licence, with the hardware nearing its end-of-life. We replaced it with a new Sophos XGS Series firewall, equipped with a 3-Year xStream Protection plan. This upgrade provided robust protection against cyber threats and enabled secure remote access to on-premise systems. We ensured the transition was smooth, with minimal downtime, by pre-configuring the device in our staging environment.

4. Quick Mobile Activation for a New Employee

On a Friday afternoon, a business owner needed a mobile service activated urgently for a new employee starting on Monday. Instead of the usual hassle of visiting a retail store, the client called us. We swiftly handled the paperwork and activated the service through Optus Business Centre Tasmania. Within 30 minutes, our tech delivered the SIM card, ensuring the new phone was ready for use, highlighting our commitment to prompt and efficient service.

5. Ensuring Business Continuity with Cyber Security & Risk Assessment

During a Business Cyber Security & Risk Assessment for a new client, we identified that their sites lacked internet failover capabilities. This was critical as their operations would halt without internet. After a truck damaged the cable to one site, causing production chaos, we implemented XGS Firewalls with 4G Routers. This setup ensured automatic failover during outages, maintaining continuous operations and notifying us to resolve issues promptly.

6. Ensuring 24/7 Phone Availability with Carrier-Level Failover

For a client running multiple 3CX phone system and needing 24/7 availability, we implemented a carrier-level failover solution. This setup ensured that if primary carrier lines were unavailable, calls would route to a secondary backup trunk, maintaining call flow with the correct business name. Alerts were configured to notify stakeholders of any failover, ensuring critical calls were handled efficiently even during after-hours.

7. Upgrading Communication Systems for Growing Trade Businesses

Many trade businesses started with a single mobile or cordless phone for all calls. As these businesses grew, this setup became inefficient. We upgraded one such client to a 3CX phone system, allowing calls to be routed to multiple devices. The system included features like call queues, voicemail to email, call recording, and a mobile app for on-the-go call management. This upgrade improved customer experience, increased efficiency, and provided a scalable solution for future growth.

Conclusion

July was a month of significant achievements for us, as we tackled various IT challenges for our clients. From enhancing security and ensuring business continuity to upgrading communication systems and refreshing hardware, our goal was to improve productivity and customer satisfaction. We look forward to continuing to support local businesses with tailored IT solutions that drive success.
